Thinking of enrolling in the Arts Practicum in Semester 2 or the Summer Semester (P2) in 2009? Please read on...
Enrolments/Expressions of Interest for Semester 1, 2010 close 9 December 2009 Summer Semester (P2), 2009The deadline for enrolling in and/or expressing your interest in the Arts Practicum for Summer Semester P2, 2009 is Friday 23 October 2009. Applications for placements will not be accepted after this time, unless a placement is already secured. Expressing Your Interest in the Arts Practicum Before enrolling in the Arts Practicum please complete the online Expression of Interest form. After you have done this please go to the Student Office, or telephone 6488 2091, or email artsprac@cyllene.uwa.edu.au, to make an appointment with the Arts Practicum Co-ordinator to discuss your application. Please bring an updated CV to this meeting. After this meeting you will be instructed about when and how to enrol in the Arts Practicum. Completing the Expression of Interest Please complete the online Expression of Interest as thoroughly as possible. If there is a section about which you are not sure, or if do not know what kind of placements you are after, please leave the section/s blank, and the Arts Practicum Coordinator will discuss it with you at your meeting. If you are keen to do the Arts Practicum II, please do not worry if you have not yet found a Disciplinary Supervisor. The Arts Practicum Coordinator will discuss this with you at your meeting. Enrolling in the Arts Practicum When you enrol in the Arts Practicum (which you can do via Student Connect, as you would do any unit), your enrolment will automatically show up as INVALID. This is an administrative procedure to ensure that all Arts Practicum enrolments have discussed their placements with the Arts Practicum Coordinator. This does not mean that you are not allowed to enrol in the Arts Practicum. Your enrolment will be changed once you are placed. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE ARTS STUDENT OFFICE OR THE ARTS PRACTICUM COORDINATOR ABOUT THIS MATTER. You will be able to enrol in the Summer semester (P2) from the 23rd November, 2009 once summer enrolments are open.
Placements You will see that there is a list of previous host organisations on the Arts Practicum website. This is a good place to start when considering where you might want to do your Arts Practicum. Unfortunately no placements are guaranteed, as not every past host organisation is able to offer future placements. Furthermore, students with consistently low marks and a poor university record may be declined from host organisations. It is a good idea to research possible placements prior to your meeting with the Arts Practicum Co-ordinator. If you are keen on a placement that is not on the list you should still write it in your list of preferences, and the Arts Practicum Coordinator will discuss the potential of this placement during your meeting. Questions? Please read the Arts Practicum website thoroughly, as it is very comprehensive. Please contact the Arts Practicum Coordinator if you still require assistance after you have done this. |
